根據 Fantom 基金會發布的公告，Sonic 基金會將負責 Sonic 生態系統的治理及其金庫管理功能，Sonic Labs 將專注於 Sonic 網路的去中心化應用、合作關係和社群。

Fantom Opera 是 Fantom 生態的一個專注於去中心化金融（DeFi）的獨立網路，而新的 Sonic 區塊鏈將透過 Layer 2 跨鏈橋連接以太坊生態系統。Fantom 基金會執行長 Michael Kong 在發送給 CoinDesk 的一封電子郵件中表示，Sonic 將擁有「在以太坊上獨立提取資金的能力」，並將為「從以太坊橋接到 Sonic 鏈的每個資產」生成證明。

Kong 補充說，Sonic 將在速度和安全性方面大大優於 Fantom 鏈，「隨著時間的推移，我們預計用戶和開發者將完全遷移到 Sonic 鏈」。

Fantom 團隊也表示，一旦 Sonic 鏈上線（預計在今年某個時間點），該網路將擁有自己的原生代幣 $S，「再最近的一次治理投票確認了這兩種代幣的互操作性後 ，S 將與 Fantom 現有的 FTM 代幣 1:1 相容」。

在成立新的 Sonic 實體的消息發布的同時，Fantom 也宣布完成了由韓國加密風投機構 Hashed 領投的 1,000 萬美元策略融資，這筆資金將用於發展 Sonic 的生態系統和產品。根據 Michael Kong 先前的說法，Sonic 預計將於今年夏末秋初亮相。
