Are Launchpads (combined with Airdrops) going to kill crypto presales?

Whoever has been in the crypto world for a long time has heard of crypto presales and many are still ongoing as I write this post.

Investing in a crypto presale would give investors the chance to get the tokens at a low price and then sell/trade them when the token is launched on either a DEX or a CEX.

$ETH was initially launched as a presale, its price was paired with $BTC and each BTC gave investors 2,000 ETH (1 BTC would give you 74 ETH today). It was also a huge success as over 60 million of ETH were sold.

Since then we've seen lots of presales (and some of them being pure scam) but new launchpad mechanics and airdrops seem to be replacing them.

What are the main differences between a crypto presale and a Launchpad+Airdrop?

I'd say that one of the main reasons why people prefer Launchpads over Presales is timing: some presales can go on for years (ever heard of Briccken? Initial investors back in 2019 still have their tokens vested) while Launchpad usually get announced with 1/2 weeks notice.

The other main difference is that crypto presales force investors to lock their own funds for a potential long time while Launchpad combined with Airdrops see tokens distributed to qualified wallet (e.g. wallet staking other tokens, see $TIA stakers with MANTA recently) and token launched either slightly before airdrop or after it (a few hours at most, unless there are issues of course).
