👉👉👉 South Korean Agencies Investigate $82M Orbit Bridge Hack After Reports of Lazarus Group’s Involvement

Orbit Bridge, a crucial component of the Claytont ecosystem, fell victim to an exploit just hours before New Year's Eve, resulting in losses of nearly $82 million. South Korean authorities are actively investigating the significant hack, with allegations pointing towards North Korea's hacking group, 'Lazarus,' as the potential orchestrator.

The exploited bridge served as a vital link for prominent Korean platforms, including Kakao's Claytont #blockchain and WEMADE's blockchain project, #WEMIX . The involvement of South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) in the investigation reflects an unusual level of engagement for a virtual asset theft incident in the blockchain space.

OZYS, the operating company of Orbit Bridge, promptly reported the incident to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and the National Police Agency on January 1st, meeting mandatory reporting obligations under the Information and Communication Network Act.

While no direct link to North Korea has been confirmed, the NIS is actively collaborating with relevant agencies and considering the possibility of Lazarus group involvement.

The NIS's participation in this investigation is considered exceptional, deviating from the usual involvement of agencies like the Cyber Investigation Division of the National Police Agency and KISA in cryptocurrency-related cybercrime incidents.

OZYS has been cooperative in the investigation, engaging with global blockchain analysis firms such as UPsala Security and the TON Foundation. As the impact of the exploit ripples through the Claytont decentralized finance (#DEFI ) sector and the broader ecosystem, OZYS is anticipating support from Claytont to address the crisis and aid affected parties.

Further details on OZYS' joint response with Claytont to manage the aftermath of the incident will be released in due course.
