According to U.Today, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, who has recently become a crypto influencer, has stirred controversy in the cryptocurrency community. This comes after she posted a meme that mocks Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum. The meme depicts Azalea holding a baby with Buterin's face, accompanied by a caption suggesting that Buterin was merely 'hangry', a combination of hungry and angry.

This incident follows Buterin's criticism of celebrity meme coins in early June. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent trend of meme coin popularity, particularly in response to a post about Azalea's newly launched Mother Iggy (MOTHER) token. Buterin suggested that celebrity crypto projects should aim to serve the public good and incorporate 'fun mechanics'.

While some cryptocurrency enthusiasts found humor in Azalea's meme, others, including Uniswap co-founder Hayden Adams, were less amused. Adams expressed his disappointment in Azalea's mockery of Buterin, whom he referred to as the 'best builder' in the crypto space. He suggested that Azalea could have responded positively and used her profits to contribute to a social cause.

After retiring from her music career due to a decline in commercial success, Azalea has found early success with her cryptocurrency project, which was launched in early March. The MOTHER token has exceeded expectations, surging by as much as 21% over the last 24 hours. Its fully diluted valuation currently stands at $132 million, according to CoinGecko data.
