According to Foresight News, Gala Games CEO Eric Schiermeyer is suing co-founder Wright Thurston, accusing him of stealing 8.6 billion GALA tokens in early 2021 and selling them for $130 million before the company could stop him. In the lawsuit filed on August 31, Schiermeyer also alleges that Thurston's business model ultimately led to the company becoming insolvent, bankrupt, or mired in litigation. In his own lawsuit filed the same day, Thurston claims that Schiermeyer took control of Gala Games to use company funds for personal expenses, including financing a private jet.

Gala Games was founded in 2019 by Thurston and Schiermeyer, with each holding a 50% stake in the company.
