According to CoinDesk: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a statement on Tuesday, warning that North Korean hackers may attempt to cash out over $40 million worth of stolen bitcoin (BTC). The Lazarus Group and APT38, both based in North Korea, were allegedly responsible for a series of cryptocurrency hacks earlier this year. These include the $60 million theft from payment processor Alphapo and the $100 million exploit of Atomic Wallet.

In January, the FBI identified the two groups as being behind the Horizon Bridge hack in the previous year, which resulted in a loss of over $100 million. The agency has identified six wallets containing a total of 1,580 bitcoin ($41 million) connected to the hacker groups and warned cryptocurrency companies against interacting with those wallets. The FBI stated that it will continue to expose and combat the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) use of illicit activities, including cybercrime and virtual currency theft, to generate revenue for the regime.
