Hamster Kombat, a Telegram-based play-to-earn crypto game, has released important details regarding its upcoming token launch and airdrop. The team said that players won’t be able to claim their full token allocation immediately on launch day.

Players can claim 88.75% of their tokens on launch day, while 11.25% will be locked in a 10-month vesting period. The remaining tokens will become available by July 2025.

Frustrated Players Call Hamster Kombat Coin Airdrop As “Worst in Crypto History”

This staggered release of tokens was not previously communicated to players. Many were expecting to claim their entire allocation immediately and are now expressing frustration on social media platforms. Some users were already disappointed with the changes in airdrop allocation criteria and, on the top of it, lock-in period further increased their frustration.

The value of the HMSTR token will only be determined once trading begins on The Open Network (TON) on September 26. However, Players have compared the situation to the recent Catizen airdrop, which also faced backlash for its unexpected token lockups.

Only 43% of Players Are Eligible for the Hamster Coin Airdrop

Hamster Kombat’s announcement also clarified the final eligibility for the airdrop. Out of the 300 million players, only 129 million remain eligible for the token distribution. Initially, 131 million players qualified, but 2.3 million were later disqualified due to violations of the game’s rules, primarily involving cheating.

Hamster Kombat has allocated 60 billion HMSTR coin—60% of the total token supply of 100 billion—for the current airdrop. The remaining 15 billion tokens are reserved for Season 2 of the game. During this interlude season, Hamster Kombat players will still have opportunities to earn additional coins.
