A New York resident, William Koo Ichioka, has been slapped with a $36 million fine by the CFTC for allegedly swindling investors with promises of high returns. Ichioka, who started his scheme in 2018, promised a juicy 10% return every 30 business days but instead used the funds for his lavish lifestyle, including rent, jewelry, and luxury cars.
