According to AFP (France), a source close to Hezbollah stated that an Israeli airstrike on the Dahiyeh neighborhood in Beirut has killed Ibrahim Aqil, a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan unit.

“The Israeli airstrike claimed the life of Radwan commander Ibrahim Aqil, the second-highest-ranking officer in the armed forces after Fuad Shukr,” who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in July, also in Hezbollah’s southern Beirut stronghold, the source said.

The U.S. Department of Justice has designated Aqil as a global terrorist, accusing him of involvement in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, which killed 63 people, as well as the attack on the U.S. Marine barracks that killed 241 American personnel.

Aqil was also accused of directing the kidnapping and detention of American and German hostages in Lebanon during the 1980s, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.💣#BTC☀ $BTC
