The dodo is not as “dumb” as we once thought!

A new study led by Eugenia Gold at Stony Brook University reveals that these iconic birds, long misunderstood, had a brain-to-body ratio comparable to pigeons known for being trainable.

Even more surprising, dodos had an enhanced sense of smell, a rare trait for most birds!

Turns out, their fearlessness around humans may have contributed to their extinction, not their intelligence. Time to rethink the dodo’s legacy smart, fearless, and gone too soon.
