Coinspeaker Notcoin-Backed Flappy Bird Returns after 10-Year Break, Launched Exclusively on Telegram and TON

Flappy Bird, the popular mobile game that captivated millions a decade ago, has made a notable return. After 10 years, the game officially relaunched on Telegram and TON, a blockchain platform, on September 16, 2024. This effort is led by the Flappy Bird Foundation Group with support from Web3 leader Notcoin.

With Telegram’s 950 million users, including 200 million active gamers, the game aims to blend its nostalgic appeal with modern technology. The foundation secured the Flappy Bird trademark and rights, ensuring the new version remains true to its origins while exploring Web3 innovations.

Flappy Bird Returns with ‘Flap-a-TON’

In partnership with Notcoin, Flappy Bird’s return will feature the “Flap-a-TON” event, an innovative fusion of gaming and blockchain technology. Season 1 introduces a free mining event that combines Flappy Bird’s familiar gameplay with modern Web3 features. Crucially, no wallet connection is needed, making the experience smooth and user-friendly.

Strategic partnerships underpin this revival, aiming to reshape how casual gaming integrates with blockchain. As the publishing partner, Notcoin applies its expertise in mobile gaming to ensure a successful return. The goal is to offer a dynamic experience that merges the game’s nostalgic appeal with cutting-edge technology.

Telegram’s role in this relaunch reflects a broader shift in gaming, targeting both long-time fans and new players drawn to Web3. With Telegram emerging as a key platform for Web3 gaming, it provides an ideal venue for Flappy Bird’s reentry. The game is designed to be community-focused and open to all, setting a new standard for casual gaming with blockchain.

Michael Roberts, the chief creative behind Flappy Bird’s return, emphasized that Flappy Bird’s return on Telegram marks just the beginning. By integrating Web3 and the TON ecosystem, the game’s future promises to be community-driven, secure, and more interactive.

“Flappy Bird’s return on Telegram is just the beginning. By embracing Web3 and the TON ecosystem, we’re
ensuring that the game’s future is community-driven, secure, and accessible to all. Web3 allows us to
empower our players with true ownership and a more engaging, interactive experience,
ensuring Flappy Bird and its IP remains a beloved staple for generations to come,” said Roberts.

Flappy Bird Revives with New Features

Following its debut on Telegram, Flappy Bird will expand in 2025 with new versions for HTML5, web browsers, iOS, and Android. These updates will add fresh features such as new game modes, customization options, and a progression system. Despite the changes, the game will keep its simple, iconic gameplay to stay relevant for today’s gamers.

Kek, the creator of Piou Piou, the inspiration behind Flappy Bird, shared his enthusiasm for the game’s future. He called this moment a key event in gaming history and expressed pride in working alongside dedicated fans and developers. He believes this collaborative effort could reshape the industry.

Support from Notcoin, Telegram, and the Web3 community has placed Flappy Bird in a strong position for its next chapter. Sasha Plotvinov, founder of Open Builders and Notcoin, emphasized Telegram’s growing role for developers. He noted that well-known titles like Flappy Bird help make this platform more engaging for users.
