Celsius, the bankrupt crypto lender, has started repaying its creditors. As of August 26, the company has distributed approximately $2.53 billion to 251,000 creditors, representing about 84% of the $3 billion owed to over 375,000 eligible customers.

New Zealand Proposes Implementation of OECD Crypto Reporting Framework

New Zealand’s Minister of Revenue, Simon Watts, has introduced a bill to implement the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). The proposed legislation aims to enhance tax compliance in the crypto sector.

Under the new bill, reporting crypto-asset service providers (RCASPs) in New Zealand must collect user information starting April 1, 2026. RCASPs must report this information to Inland Revenue by June 30, 2027.

Base Network Surpasses 1 Million Daily Active Addresses

Coinbase’s layer-2 network, Base, reached 1.05 million daily active addresses on August 24. This represents a 60% growth in daily active addresses since early August. Base now has more daily active addresses than several competing protocols combined.
