The Open Network Foundation has selected Axelar’s Mobius Development Stack (MDS) to connect The Open Network (TON) ecosystem with 68 blockchain networks.

The integration is expected to enhance the scalability and usability of decentralized applications within the TON blockchain ecosystem, while also improving connectivity across Web3 platforms.

Anthony Tsivarev, director of ecosystem development at TON Foundation, said in a press release that Axelar is “an ideal choice” due to its “open, developer-friendly stack.”

The integration follows an evaluation of cross-chain interoperability platforms, with Axelar’s MDS selected for its security, ease of integration and flexibility.

Central to this collaboration is Axelar’s Interchain Amplifier technology, which allows developers on the TON blockchain to connect and interact with other blockchain networks.

Axelar’s MDS will enable the TON blockchain and other mainstream networks — including Ethereum, Cosmos and Polkadot — to transfer assets and data seamlessly.

According to the press release, developers can build decentralized applications that function across multiple blockchains, eliminating the need for bridging solutions.

Establishing an interoperability layer can help prevent liquidity fragmentation with assets deployed in multiple bridged forms across different networks.

For TON users, the integration will bring more access to Web3 options, smoother transactions and interactions without bridge requirements, and a simplified user experieGrowing trend of cross-chain interoperability

The integration of Axelar with TON is part of a larger trend in the Web3 space, where cross-chain interoperability and blockchain connectivity are becoming increasingly important.

On Oct. 10, Ronin Network — previously a victim of a $625 million hack in March 2022 — secured an integration with Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

The Chainlink CCIP integration ensures that messages on both the sending and receiving chains remain valid for Ronin Network’s cross-chain bridge.

Although cross-chain functionality simplifies processes by reducing the need for complex bridging solutions, transaction security remains a top priority for networks pursuing these integrations.nce.
