A former Chinese government official named Xiao Yi has been given a life imprisonment sentence for his involvement in supporting a hidden and significant Bitcoin mining operation in Fuzhou.

This operation was so substantial that it used up 10% of the city's total power. Xiao Yi has also been found guilty of corruption in separate instances.

He admitted to the charges, and the government has confiscated all the illegal gains he made through bribes and other means.
