Ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Adidas makes a move into the crypto space.
Adidas’ Bored Ape Indigo Herz has featured in a teaser alongside Messi and Benzema for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
The trailer also features British rapper Stormzy.
Taking forward its association with the FIFA World Cup, Adidas has gone the crypto way this time.
The sports brand’s promotional trailer featured its BAYC character, Indigo Herz, alongside superstars like Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi. The former was mentioned on ‘Indigoooooals’ cereal box along with the message, ‘Benzema eats goals for breakfast.’ British rapper Stormzy had narrated the video trailer and is also a part of the video via a cameo appearance.

Adidas bought Indigo Herz, also known as BAYC #8774, for 46 ETH in September last year.
The brand has 100% license to utilize their APE NFT throughout real and digital goods, ranging from sports sneakers to jerseys and merchandise similar to naming rights or traditional logos.
A Bored Ape has not been used this way for the first time. Previously, a restaurant named Bored & Hungry too used Bored Ape #6184 for its menu and advertising purpose.
Other collaborations of Adidas are with influencer GMoney, NFT project Punks Comics and one more with Yuga Labs. All these collaborations aim to engage in the metaverse and every character appears in the sports brand’s inaugural NFT drop, Into the Metaverse.

In two days, Adidas will reveal its Capsule Collection NFT. Based on the shape of the boxing as well as community sentiment, it looks like the reveal is a physical clothing item that’s available for redemption.
Into the Metaverse NFT Phase 1 will provide owners physical utility in the form of unique clothing items such as a black hoodie that has Adidas’ blockchain address incorporated, a Gmoney orange beanie and a yellow tracksuit having logos of four collaborators.
Phase 2 is anticipated to advance on real merchandise with an aim to provide utility for owners both IRL and through access to metaverse experiences.
