There was this post I came across in the evening mentioning about airdrops of Shib tokens. Now usually when a person sees something like this a lot of mixed emotions start playing inside their mind.
1. Gaining some free tokens in the form of airdrops. I mean who doesn't like free crypto. And when it's something like Shib it tempts the person even more.
2. Even a little FOMO kicks in at this point and without thinking any further, the person jumps off quickly to connect his/her wallet.
3. Without conforming that the airdrop is from the official social media profile of the token/project the person has already been trapped in the bad intentions of the scammer and has performed the earlier task.
📢 Conclusion: You may have received some or even a decent amount of token which seems great as free crypto but here's the real climax.
When you try selling those tokens, your exchange wallet freezes or your account gets blocked due to suspicious/fraudulent activity. Turns out those tokens came from the address of a hacker who has hacked some big fat wallet or account and stole those crypto.
Those airdrops you received are nothing but stolen crypto that hackers transfer to random wallets and turns out this time you have become one of those victims. Next up you may be under scrutiny and may soon receive a call or e-mail from the local police or even the regulatory body of that region/country.
Hence, keep these points in mind in such situations.
📢 Established names in crypto( large or small cap), say in top 200 will never offer airdrops. Airdrops are always offered on any new token launch or aka ICO (Initial coin offering).
📢 Report immediately to Binance. Your quick action may result in awareness and people may not fall prey to such scams.
