A significant development concerning Bitcoin has emerged. A Chinese national residing in North London, Jian Wen, is facing charges of tax evasion after it was discovered that she held $2.5 billion worth of Bitcoin. In 2017, Wen encountered tax obstacles while attempting to acquire expensive properties in London. However, she opted to purchase jewelry in Zurich and luxury properties in Dubai in 2019 instead. Following an extensive investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police, a Bitcoin stash initially valued at $2.52 billion, which is now estimated to be around $4.28 billion, has been confiscated. This seizure represents the largest of its kind in the UK. The Crown Prosecution Service has obtained a freezing order from the High Court, which could potentially result in the forfeiture of the BTC stash. Inspector Jason Prins emphasized, "This decision and the five-year investigation exemplify our dedication to pursuing criminals who aim to profit from illicit assets, regardless of the complexity of the case."
