Elon Musk Says ‘Dogecoin to the Moon’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that Tesla should enable DOGE payments for its vehicles during an event at Tesla’s Giga Berlin on Wednesday. Musk was asked by an audience member about the possibility of purchasing Tesla vehicles with DOGE. “When can you buy a Tesla with dogecoin?” Musk repeated the question before replying:

At some point, I think we should enable that … Dogecoin to the moon.

Musk pointed out that customers can already purchase some merchandise on the Tesla website using DOGE, “which is cool,” he said.

The billionaire also shared a story of why he became an avid supporter of dogecoin. “A lot of people maybe don’t know the reason that I actually ended up, sort of … somewhat endorsing dogecoin,” Musk began. “When I was walking around the factory at Tesla, some people were just, you know, working the line … and they said: ‘Can you please support DOGE?'” He further shared: “Also, I was at Spacex and also just, you know, working in the factory and some regular guys just said: ‘Hey can you support DOGE?’ I was like, you know what, DOGE are the people’s crypto. So, I will support it.” He continued:

Lots of rich people were sporting bitcoin … But people on the line want me to support DOGE. I’ll support DOGE.
