EARLY LIFE

Zhao was born in Jiangsu Province, China. In the late 1980s, Zhao moved with his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Zhao's father was a professor in China before being branded a “pro-bourgeois intellectual” and expelled from the country. During his youth, Zhao helped support his family by working several jobs in the service industry, including as a McDonald's employee. Zhao attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he majored in computer science.

In September 2020, he was named in a lawsuit against Binance, alleging that Binance facilitated money laundering of more than $9 million and in 2023 zhao was suspected of laundering money with the very inappropriate accusation of conspiring with the Islamic terrorists Hamas al Qaeda and others. at the trial zhao failed to mention 100,000 transactions which were impossible to mention one by one. and finally Zhao turned himself in by pleading guilty and was ready to pay a fine of $4.3 billion USD and was jailed for 18 months and he was deprived of access to binance for 3 years. it's really very sad.
