According to PANews, since the beginning of 2024, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Legal System Brigade has prioritized the management of virtual currency involved in cases as a key point in the annual law enforcement standardization construction. They have actively studied relevant policies and regulations and formulated guiding norms. In February, the Legal System Brigade organized several joint meetings and theme salons, inviting leaders from various relevant departments to conduct in-depth discussions on the investigation, litigation, management, and disposal of virtual currency cases. The aim is to enhance the effectiveness of combating crimes involving virtual currencies, explore innovative management paths, and promote the standardization and efficiency of law enforcement practices.
The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Legal System Brigade's official public account, Fa Qing Yuan, stated in a report in April that the current legislative bodies and administrative departments in our country have adopted a 'trading is illegal, possession is legal' policy towards virtual currency. The policy is mainly based on principled provisions, and there is no complete legal normative system for the management of virtual currencies, resulting in insufficient law enforcement basis in case handling practices.
