According to Odaily, Aleph Zero, a privacy-enhanced public blockchain running on the Substrate stack, has announced the launch of zkOS. This privacy layer is compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and can generate zero-knowledge proofs on consumer devices in less than a second. The zkOS is now live on the testnet.

Developed by Polkadot developer Parity Technologies, the team behind Aleph Zero stated that zkOS allows private transactions and dApp interactions without revealing underlying data. The zkOS uses Halo2 with KZG commitments to generate proofs faster and provides a zkToolkit to simplify developer integration.

Based on benchmark tests, zkOS can execute proofs on a MacBook within 600-800 milliseconds. The aim of zkOS is to be faster, more user-friendly, and easier for developers to integrate into Ethereum applications.
