According to Foresight News, the European Digital Rights Center (Noyb) lodged a complaint on April 29, accusing OpenAI of failing to rectify false information provided by its generative AI chatbot, ChatGPT. The organization claims that these actions could potentially violate EU privacy regulations. The complainant in this case is an unnamed public figure who asked OpenAI's chatbot about information concerning himself, only to consistently receive incorrect information. OpenAI subsequently rejected the public figure's request to correct or delete the data, stating that it was 'impossible'. The company also refused to disclose information about its training data and data sources.
Noyb, based in Vienna, Austria, is a non-profit organization co-founded by Austrian lawyer and privacy activist Max Schrems. The organization aims to initiate strategic court cases and media initiatives to support the General Data Protection Regulation, the proposed ePrivacy Regulation, and general information privacy.
