In December last year, Sky and other five major DeFi protocols generated revenue of US$158 million, four of which set new monthly revenue records
Odaily reported that according to data from Token Terminal, in December 2024, the top 5 DeFi protocols generated $158 million in revenue, with 4 of them reaching new monthly revenue highs. Ethena led the pack, generating $56.9 million in revenue in December, a new record. This amount accounted for nearly 25% of its total revenue of $230.8 million last year. Sky's (formerly Maker) monthly revenue also reached a new high, generating nearly $40 million last month, accounting for 13% of its $304 million in 2024. The new revenue record was less than $1 million away from the previous record set in January 2022. The DEX Aerodrome on Base generated around $38 million in revenue in December, also a new high, exceeding the previous high by over $5 million, accounting for 15.6% of the protocol's $243.6 million in revenue in 2024. Aave's revenue jumped over $3 million between November and December last year, reaching $13.6 million. This monthly revenue was a new high, accounting for 16.7% of its total revenue of $81.4 million last year. Lido was the only DeFi application among these that did not set a new monthly revenue high, generating $9.6 million in December, accounting for 9.3% of its $103.6 million in revenue in 2024.
