Nigel Green, CEO of financial advisory firm Devere Group, has predicted that Bitcoin could rise to a new high of $150,000 by mid-2025. The executive made the prediction shortly after the cryptocurrency surpassed the $100,000 mark for the first time last week.
“Bitcoin is up a stunning 134% year-to-date,” Green said, highlighting the favorable conditions fueling the rally. “We believe the conditions are set for even greater heights in the coming months.” He attributes the momentum to a combination of rising institutional investment and investors’ fear of missing out (FOMO). Green said:
"I now believe that rising investor FOMO (fear of missing out) and increasing institutional investment can be expected to push the price to $150,000 by mid-2025. This dual momentum is fueling a crypto market resurgence and cementing Bitcoin as a “must-own” asset in portfolios."
Institutional support has proven transformative. Financial institutions have increased their exposure to Bitcoin through direct investments, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and partnerships with crypto firms, increasing liquidity and confidence. Meanwhile, FOMO continues to grow, with the $100,000 mark acting as a psychological trigger for investors looking to profit from the rally, Green explained, noting:
"As Bitcoin reaches new highs, it creates a snowball effect. Investors rush in to capture the gains, pushing the price higher and attracting even more participants"
Additional factors include persistent inflation and geopolitical uncertainty, which are increasing Bitcoin’s appeal as a safe haven asset. Green also noted regulatory changes under Donald Trump’s presidency, including a pro-crypto chairman at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which are expected to bring greater clarity and confidence to the market. While acknowledging the possibility of short-term sell-offs, Green expressed optimism, concluding that a perfect storm is brewing for Bitcoin to potentially reach $150,000 by mid-2025.
