Microsoft shareholders reject proposal to add bitcoin to company's assets . December 10, 2024
The proposal was put forward by the non-profit organization The National Center for Public Policy Research in late October 2024. According to the authors of the initiative, investing part of its assets in Bitcoin would allow Microsoft to diversify its profits and increase the value of its securities. However, the company's shareholders and management pointed to Bitcoin's volatility as a key problem and rejected the proposal.
The initiative was supported by MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor. He prepared a presentation in which he showed how investing in Bitcoin could improve Microsoft's position. Unfortunately, the initiative did not help persuade shareholders to make a positive decision.🙅
