Overcoming Challenges in Crypto: A Personal Trading Journey
I got into crypto almost Three years ago with 400 USDT, without really knowing much about it. A friend introduced me to it, and I invested in Solana and futures, but I didn’t understand how to trade. In just two days, my account was wiped out. I deposited another 300 USDT, and within a week, I lost it all again. Then, I put in 500 USDT with a sense of revenge, but sadly, on the same day, I got liquidated again. I felt like crypto was a scam and thought no one could win. I almost gave up. However, after seeing a few people post their profits, I realized that a small percentage of people were making money, and I thought, “If they can do it, why can’t I?”
I started researching and looking for a teacher. I searched on TikTok and joined a few groups, paid for some lessons, but still ended up getting liquidated. Eventually, a friend told me about a guy in Dubai who taught crypto. I contacted him, but he only did in-person classes and refused to do online ones. However, he referred me to a person in Asia who offered online lessons. I reached out to him, and he agreed to teach me for 1000 USDT over two months. Somehow, I managed to gather the money and started my classes.
The lessons were invaluable. After two months of learning, I was finally able to trade and became profitable. I invested again, starting with 400 USDT. I stuck to my plan, taking small profits of 5-10 dollars a day to grow my portfolio for bigger earnings in the future. I spent countless hours watching charts, analyzing different time frames and indicators, just to understand market behavior. This hands-on learning helped me a lot.
A few months ago, I decided to venture into futures trading. On the first day, I got liquidated, but only lost a small amount because I had anticipated the risk and didn’t invest too much in my futures wallet. Since then, over the past 4-5 months, I’ve not been liquidated once, and my account has grown to nearly 20k. I’m now earning about 4-5k a month from futures trading, with a 1200 USDT wallet size, while keeping my main investments in spot and funding wallets.
Key Lessons Learned:
Stick to your plan: Don’t panic, avoid panic selling, and refrain from greed-driven buying.EMA Strategy:EMA 5 for 5-minute trades is best.EMA 21 for 15-minute and 1-hour time frames.EMA 50, 100, and 200 for longer time frames.
Still, I’d recommend avoiding smaller time frames where possible.Margin and Leverage:
Margin and leverage are crucial. I use a leverage of 5x, and my margin is never more than 1%.Fibonacci:
Fibonacci retracements are invaluable, and the 0.618 level is the most reliable, not the so-called "golden pocket."Candle Reading:
Understanding candles is essential for profitable trading. If you don’t know how to read them, you won’t succeed in trading.Liquidation Monitoring:
You need to be aware of liquidation levels. However, many of the liquidity heatmaps you see on exchanges are fake, designed to manipulate you. I use a different tool (which I can’t share here) to track this.Price Action:
Fundamentals can help, but 99% of the time, price action is what truly matters.
Now, I’m much more confident in crypto and excited about my future earnings. I’m taking it slow, though, avoiding greed, and steadily working towards even bigger profits.
