Tron founder Justin Sun made headlines by consuming a banana that he bought for $6.24 million at an art auction. The banana, part of Maurizio Cattelan’s 2019 artwork “Comedian,” has been a popular meme subject. At an event, Sun chomped on the fruit, commenting that it was “much better than other bananas.” The banana was replaced regularly due to it eventually rotting, and Sun used the opportunity to discuss the similarities between conceptual art and cryptocurrency.
Two Solana-based meme coins were inspired by the $6.2 million artwork, with one rising in market cap after Sun’s stunt. Additionally, Sun announced a $30 million investment in the Trump-family backed World Liberty Financial (WLFI) project.
