The Singapore Police Force and the Cyber Security Agency have issued a joint warning about a rise in cryptocurrency theft. Criminals are using various tactics to steal from victims’ wallets, including fake social media profiles, freebies and promotions, phishing websites, malicious links, and software vulnerabilities.
They are also using smart contracts to invade victims’ wallets and transfer cryptocurrency. The Singaporean government is advising the public to take preventive measures, such as using offline storage devices, strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and frequent account checks. If you suspect you have been a victim, you should contact a cryptocurrency exchange, stop trading, freeze your account, check and revoke any suspicious token authorizations, transfer the remaining cryptocurrency to another wallet, and notify relevant departments.
