Pump.fun Faces Backlash After User Issues Disturbing Threat Over Token Prices
Decentralized token creation platform Pump.fun is facing criticism after a concerning incident involving a user who reportedly made alarming threats during a livestream if their token didn’t reach specific price targets.
The situation was brought to light on Sunday by Beau, the safety product manager at Pudgy Penguins. According to Beau, the user allegedly stated they would “end their life” if their coin failed to hit a certain market cap.
Beau later revealed that the user’s Twitter account sent them a screen recording of the livestream, in which the person appeared to act on their threats.
“I hope it’s a troll, but regardless of whether it’s fake or real, it has the potential to encourage others to take similar actions or harm others. The real danger is that it could spiral further,” Beau told Decrypt.
This incident has sparked serious conversations about the mental health implications of crypto trading and the responsibility of platforms like Pump.fun to safeguard their communities.
