Sui Network, a blockchain developed by Mysten Labs, experienced a major outage on November 21st, causing it to stop processing transactions for almost two hours. The network’s status page confirmed a “significant outage” and highlighted failed transactions and inaccessible decentralized applications.

The issue was resolved by introducing the v1.37.4 update, and validators worked quickly to fix the problem. The cause of the issue was a bug in the transaction scheduling logic that caused validators to crash. This is the first time mainnet validators have had problems since the mainnet launched in May 2023, with previous outages affecting RPC nodes and preventing testnet validators from accepting new transactions.

The SUI token’s share price dropped following the outage but has since stabilized and is currently trading at $3.56.
