Super Doginals, the first game on Dogecoin blockchain, was launched this month as the meme coin experienced a surge in demand. Created by pseudonymous developer Pimax, the game is a tribute to Dogecoin’s playful community. Super Doginals is a simplified web game based on classic button-mashing brawlers like Fatal Fury and Streets of Rage, with charming artwork and music.
The game was developed using the OpenBOR open-source game engine, ported to WebAssembly for compatibility with Dogecoin’s blockchain. Pimax chose a lightweight pixel art style for the game to keep it Dogecoin-compatible and save space. AI tools were used in the development process to help with tasks such as drafting art, composing music, coding, and gaining insights.
This ambitious project includes multiple inscriptions that work together as one, letting others build on Super Doginals by adding their levels, characters, or creating entire games on top of existing on-chain content. Players can also create a “delegate” inscription to have a version of the game in their own Dogecoin wallet.
