During his campaign, Donald Trump mentioned that he would appoint Elon Musk to head a new department called the DOGE department, which would focus on overseeing government spending and tackling fraud and improper payments.
At a town hall event in Pennsylvania, when Musk was asked about the department, he simply responded, "Yeah, D.O.G.E," causing Dogecoin's value to jump by 15%.
Dogecoin has seen a huge rise of 157% over the past year, especially after Musk, who has been a strong supporter of Trump, threw his influence and fortune behind him following Trump's attempted assassination in July. In fact, shortly after Musk endorsed Trump on X (formerly Twitter), Dogecoin surged by 24%
