• In this post. The Base L2 network surpassed 6 million transactions per day for the first time.

It surpassed #Arbitrum to become the L2 network with the highest value recorded in the protocol.

In September, Base's success led to 32 million active addresses on the L2 network.

On October 12, the #Ethereum Base Layer 2 network recorded 6 million transactions per day, breaking the record for the number of daily transactions set a few weeks earlier.

Jesse Pollack, the network's creator, announced the news on Site X, revealing that the network recorded 6.1 million transactions per day, while the average for the entire week was 5.42 million transactions.

This achievement continues the Base network's trend of excellent performance, increasing scalability and expanding functionality. Thanks to a steady increase in activity on the network, its growth trajectory outpaces almost all other Tier 2 networks by virtually every measure, despite the fact that it has not been around for very long.

In the meantime, Base trading now accounts for 40-60% of transactions on the top three L2 networks, including Arbitrum and #Optimism .

According to IntoTheBlock, Optimism appears to have suffered the most from Base's dominance, losing significant market share between November 2023 and now. Ironically, Base was built on the OP stack.

In the meantime, thanks to Base's growth, the network has overtaken Arbitrum in terms of total blockchains on Defilllama. According to the platform, its TVL now stands at $2.367 billion, compared to Arbitrum's $2.363 billion.

However, data from another aggregator, L2Beats, tells a different story: according to L2Beats, TVL Arbitrum is worth $13.32 billion, while TVL Beys is worth $7.50 billion. This discrepancy has raised a lot of questions among observers, but Mr. Pollack recently provided clarification.

he said, Defiram's TVL is the value of all assets locked in the network's protocols.
