**News Flash: Former Attorney Sentenced for Crypto Ponzi Scheme**

An 86-year-old ex-California attorney, David Kagel, has been sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay nearly $14 million after admitting to a multimillion-dollar crypto Ponzi scheme. Kagel, currently in hospice care, will serve his probation at a seniors facility in Las Vegas.

From December 2017 to June 2022, Kagel and two accomplices lured victims into a fraudulent crypto bot trading scheme, promising high returns with no risk. They raised about $15 million by promoting the scam using Kagel's law firm's letterhead to build trust.

Kagel's law license was revoked in 2023 for failing to respond to disciplinary charges. His accomplices, David Saffron and Vincent Mazzotta, await trial next April.
