-The North Carolina legislature has passed a bill prohibiting states from participating in the Central Bank's testing of digital currencies by branches of the Federal Reserve.
On Monday, the SENATE voted 690 to 27 in favor of the House bill over Democratic Governor Roy Cooper's veto. 17 The bill prohibits payments to states using CBDCs and prohibits states from participating in CBDC testing. In a May statement, Cooper, commenting on his veto, said Bill 690 was "premature, vague and reactionary.
"There are efforts at the federal level to provide standards and safeguards to protect consumers, investors and businesses that want to conduct monetary transactions involving #digital assets, and North Carolina should wait to see how they work before taking any action, said Dan, head of the #blockchain industry association.
