🚨 Telegram Founder Detained in France
Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, was recently arrested in France. [He was detained at Le Bourget Airport near Paris upon arriving on his private jet.
Reports suggest an arrest warrant had been issued for him, with investigations centered on Telegram's alleged lack of content moderation—a situation authorities believe has enabled unchecked criminal activities.
Durov left Russia in 2014 after losing control of his previous social media company, VK. This occurred when he refused to hand over data of Ukrainian protesters to security agencies.
In August 2021, Durov became a naturalized French citizen. He also holds citizenship in the United Arab Emirates.
During an April interview with U.S. commentator Tucker Carlson, Durov expressed his commitment to keeping Telegram "neutral" and "free from geopolitics."
