Catherine Cortez Masto from Nevada and Charles Grassley from Iowa recently proposed the '2024 Combating Cybercrime and Money Laundering Act,' which seeks to enhance the Secret Service's capabilities to investigate unlicensed money transfer businesses involved in cryptocurrency transactions and potential fraud within U.S. financial institutions. Cortez Masto emphasized the importance of the bill, stating, 'Funding criminal activities through digital assets poses a direct threat to our national security.' Grassley highlighted the need for improved threat assessments to apprehend 'dirty financial enterprises' that facilitate money laundering schemes.
