BitMEX, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, has dismissed its violation of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in the US as "old news" from 2020. The company plans to request an expedited sentencing hearing, indicating no additional charges will be pursued. In 2022, BitMEX founders Arthur Hayes and Benjamin Delo pleaded guilty to the violation and paid off the fines. They admitted to failing to establish an Anti-Money Laundering program at their exchange. Both founders agreed to pay $10 million each in criminal fines for the BSA violations. The exchange now anticipates no further fines from the Department of Justice.
