Na última semana a Polícia Federal da Argentina, em Buenos Aires, deflagrou a Operação Copacabana, contra uma quadrilha de hackers especializada no roubo de credenciais bancárias de suas vítimas.
De acordo com informações divulgadas sobre a operação, o líder máximo da quadrilha é um brasileiro que mora em Copacabana, no Rio de Janeiro, por isso o nome da operação. Mas com um braço na Argentina, o grupo corria contra o tempo para instalar nos dispositivos eletrônicos de suas vítimas um vírus trojan chamado “Grandoreiro”.
Após sua instalação, os criminosos conseguiam acesso às máquinas das vítimas, entre pessoas físicas e empresas também. Assim, roubavam o que podiam de informações que levavam ao roubo de dinheiro destas.

De acordo com informações divulgadas pelo Ministerio Público de Buenos Aires, cinco mandados de busca e apreensão e três detenções foram o resultado da investigação de vários meses que conseguiu desmantelar parte de uma associação criminosa que operava na Argentina, com fraudes a vítimas por meio de um vírus Trojan.
As buscas ocorreram na cidade de Mariano H. Alfonzo e na capital da Argentina, Buenos Aires.
A investigação teve início após uma denúncia apresentada no início do ano passado, que permitiu às autoridades identificar uma quadrilha composta por pelo menos dez membros que usavam um vírus Trojan denominado “Grandoreiro“, apelidado de “a máquina“.
Por meio dele, os criminosos conseguiam assumir o controle das contas bancárias pessoais e empresariais das vítimas para, uma vez obtidas as informações, esvaziá-las e transferir grandes quantias de dinheiro para contas de diferentes entidades, como Mercado Pago, Banco Galicia, Naranja X e ClaroPay, entre outras.
Um hacker de apenas 24 anos era o responsável por receber os valores subtraídos das vítimas, converter em criptomoedas, e depois enviar para o líder máximo da organização, um brasileiro procurado pela Interpol.
A PFA não divulgou a identidade do brasileiro, mas identificou que ele recebia 70% dos valores roubados pela quadrilha, enquanto 30% permanecia em solo argentino. As investigações apuraram que o criminoso do Brasil pode ter recebido R$ 650 mil com as fraudes, ou seja, 110 milhões de pesos, conforme apurado pelo La Opinion.

A investigação apurou que o jovem hacker roubava suas vítimas com dados obtidos de suas contas de internet banking. Enquanto a vítima reiniciava o computador após o roubo das informações, os hackers corriam para operar sua manobra criminosa.
Assim, o valor chegava em contas de laranjas, e depois para contas do jovem hacker argentino. Os laranjas levavam 10% do valor roubado, enquanto os outros 90% seguiam para operações de criptomoedas.
Com as criptomoedas, 70% do valor era enviado ao brasileiro líder, que mora na região de Copacabana, e os outros 30% ficava com o hacker argentino. Depois ele enviava os valores para conta de seu pai e irmão e sacava em bancos.
De acordo com o MPBA, durante os procedimentos mencionados, foram apreendidos itens chave para o caso, que comprometem ainda mais os acusados. A complexidade do esquema criminoso, a quantidade de pessoas envolvidas e os valores milionários fraudados foram determinantes para classificar os fatos como associação criminosa e fraude informática.

Some Web3 wallets provide users with a feature to preview the transaction result before signing it. This is intended to increase transparency by allowing users to check the amount credited, the fee, and other data on the blockchain.
Fraudsters exploit the vulnerability of this mechanism. They lure victims to a malicious site offering to receive a small amount of Ethereum. The user has access to a preview of the hallmark transaction.
However, the time delay between the simulation and the execution of the transfer allows attackers to change the state of the contract in the chain. If the user signs the transaction, the hackers will empty their wallet.

Thailand Pertimbangkan Izin ETF Bitcoin untuk Dorong Aset Digital
Thailand dikabarkan tengah mempertimbangkan perizinan Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) berbasis Bitcoin (BTC) untuk pertama kalinya. Langkah ini dilakukan sebagai bagian dari upaya menjadikan negara tersebut pusat aset digital di kawasan Asia-Pasifik.
Secretary-General Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Thailand Pornanong Budsaratragoon mengatakan baik individu maupun institusi mungkin akan diberi akses investasi ke ETF Bitcoin lokal.
Diketahui, saat ini, Thailand sudah memiliki produk fund-of-funds dari One Asset Management yang diluncurkan pada Juni 2024. Produk tersebut menawarkan eksposur ke ETF Bitcoin luar negeri, akan tetapi hingga kini belum ada regulasi yang memperbolehkan investasi langsung ke mata uang crypto.
"Suka atau tidak, kita harus mengikuti tren adopsi mata uang crypto secara global," ujar Pornanong saat diwawancara Bloomberg, Selasa (15/01).
Di sisi lain, dukungan terhadap aset digital di Thailand memang semakin terlihat, terutama dengan usulan penerbitan stablecoin yang didukung surat utang pemerintah. Bahkan, Kader penting Partai Pheu Thai Thaksin Shinawatra menyarankan agar stablecoin ini dapat diakses baik oleh investor ritel maupun institusi.

Dalam laporan terbarunya, Circle menyebutkan bahwa pertumbuhan ini mencerminkan adopsi yang semakin luas. CEO Circle Jeremy Allaire mengatakan pencapaian ini karena peran USDC sebagai penghubung antara sistem keuangan tradisional dan digital.
