Nigeria abandona el dólar estadounidense y ahora venderá petróleo crudo en naira
Nigeria, el mayor productor de petróleo de África, ya no quiere vender crudo en dólares estadounidenses. El gobierno ha decidido empezar a venderlo en nairas.
Este cambio fue realizado por el Consejo Ejecutivo Federal (CEF). Durante décadas, la industria petrolera de Nigeria dependió en gran medida de las divisas extranjeras, en particular del dólar.
Mohammed Manga, portavoz del Ministerio de Finanzas, explicó que este cambio estratégico mejorará el crecimiento y la estabilidad de la economía de Nigeria.
Con alrededor de 37 mil millones de barriles de reservas de petróleo, el país representa el 3,1% de las reservas mundiales. Con la inestabilidad geopolítica en curso, incluidas las tensiones en Medio Oriente y la guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania, el momento no podría ser mejor.
