Altcoin Buzz presenter Cody Buffington revealed Cardano’s plans to implement the Chang hard fork before the end of June during a recent Altcoin Buzz session, which also covered the potential impact of the upcoming FOMC release on the crypto market.

According to Buffington, the Chang hard fork, also known as Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) 1694, will enable any Cardano user to vote on proposals and community-focused updates. He emphasized that Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson considers CIP 1694 the most significant update in Cardano’s history.

In an X post, Hoskinson disclosed that June was a pivotal month for Cardano, as it marks the timeframe when the Cardano Node will reach 9.0. According to Hoskinson, the Cardano network is ready for the Chang fork and awaits 70% of Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) to install the new node, paving the way for a hard fork that will usher Cardano into the “Age of Voltaire.”

Hoskinson described the upcoming update as the most significant milestone in Cardano’s history. He stated that the update will transform the network into a decentralized global civilization with millions of residents, benefiting both Cardano and the broader crypto sphere.

Hoskinson highlighted the upgrade’s additional benefits, including the introduction of the most advanced blockchain governance system, annual budgets, a treasury, and community-driven guidance for the protocol. He noted that the upcoming upgrade is the culmination of a remarkable ten-year journey, acknowledging the contributions of everyone involved.
