Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, believes that all the best quantum security strategies are based on the recursive STARK protocol. In a recent post on Site X, Buterin stated that it is best to keep working hard on a good and efficient STARK protocol.
According to Buterin, he has been working on a quantum-resilient abstract wallet code since 2017. He believes that by creating efficient STARK protocols, #blockchain developers will be able to build signature aggregation based on them.
The Ethereum creator also emphasized that, given that the timeline for the introduction of quantum computing is 10 to 20 years, it is most correct to immediately start creating the basic infrastructure, which, in his opinion, is the recursive STARK protocol. In addition, Buterin believes that the blockchain industry should ensure that solutions created now are compatible with a strong future in quantum computing.
On the other hand, Buterin gave an example of a protocol published on Github under the code 4337 and pointed out that it is not only compatible with a strong quantum future. He emphasized that the aggregation features in the protocol are optional for now. However, given the high overhead underlying hash signatures, he believes they will be necessary.
Buterin's post was a response to Gregory Markov, co-founder of ChainSafe, and sparked a discussion about 3074's competitor, EIP-7702.
