Craig Wright, who falsely claimed to be the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, was given a one-year suspended sentence and fined £145,000 ($180,000) in the UK for contempt of court. The charges stemmed from his breach of a court order by filing lawsuits against Bitcoin developers despite a previous instruction not to take any legal action against them.
During a hearing in December, it was revealed that Wright had continued his actions despite knowing it was against the order. His lawyer tried to argue that Wright’s actions were not intentional but rather out of ignorance. However, the judge found his contempt proven “beyond reasonable doubt.” This decision comes after several other legal losses for Wright regarding his claims about Bitcoin ownership.
