According to BlockBeats news, Nirvana Finance announced on December 17 that compensation claims have been opened and the launch of Nirvana V2. Original ANA holders now have early access to the application. Previously, BlockBeats reported that on April 12, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, announced that former security engineer Shakeeb Ahmed was sentenced by a U.S.
District Judge for attacking two decentralized cryptocurrency trading platforms and stealing over $12 million worth of cryptocurrency. Ahmed was sentenced to 3 years in prison, marking the first conviction for smart contract hacking. In July 2022, Ahmed used false pricing data to attack a cryptocurrency exchange and stole approximately $9 million in cryptocurrency.
He then targeted Nirvana Finance, exploiting the smart contract loopholes to purchase cryptocurrency at a lower price than the contract set and sell it to Nirvana at a higher price, stealing almost all of Nirvana’s $3.6 million in funds and causing it to shut down shortly after being hacked.
