Hamster Kombat
Hamster Kombat’s user base fell from 300 million to 41 million, impacting engagement.
Players felt cheated by the Hamster Kombat token airdrop, fueling discontent.
The biggest Telegram mini-game, Hamster Kombat, has suffered a dramatic decline in token value and user base from its height just a few months ago.
The game claimed 300 million accounts in August 2024; however, as of right now, monthly active accounts had dropped to about 41 million. Likewise, the token for the game, HMSTR, which peaked on September 26 at $0.009993, has dropped over 76% to barely $0.002357
🔶Challenges Mount for HMSTR as Players Question Airdrop and Value
The developer of the game discovers themselves in a difficult situation. Though they have 41 million active accounts ready to send push notifications and interact with users, they have not been able to create ongoing interest or value for HMSTR.
Reflecting the annoyance of many, one X user noted that the development team still lacks efficient use of the millions of users constantly engaged on Telegram to produce consistent value. This attitude permeates the community as players question why a well used platform finds it difficult to retain a consistent user base and token support.
The way Hamster Kombat’s token airdrop is handled adds to the unhappiness. First, it caused great excitement. According to local Nigerian media, many players claimed that the airdrop process misled and even cheated them, claiming that promises made during the initial frenzy were unmet.
As HMSTR’s price continues to plummet, some believe the airdrop was merely a temporary strategy to increase interest in the token rather than a real value-added event for long-term investors and gamers. This sense of betrayal has only gotten worse.
Other problems have surfaced behind the scenes. Hamster Kombat’s crew has experienced internal strife and arguments with important financiers, therefore undermining the basis of the project and maybe causing instability.
These disputes might have undermined community confidence, therefore aggravating the problems with diminishing user involvement and token devaluation. Although the game drew a large user base at first, the loss of momentum points to internal and external elements perhaps compromising its early popularity.
Beside that, as we previously highlighted, the development team has lately presented a new road map to bring Hamster Kombat back on its path.
Plans call for the highly awaited Season Two premiere and the inclusion of NFTs, which they hope will bring in-game assets and appeal to fresh users. Released in late October, these upgrades aim to bring new vitality and utility to the game and its token.
