COTI Roundup — October Highlights
October was a whirlwind month for COTI! Our testnet activity has grown by 500%, we’ve attended Cosmoverse, presented our solution for the Bank of Israel’s Digital Shekel Challenge at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, revealed more on our partnerships with top tier companies like MyEtherWallet and Hacken, and more! Here’s a recap of the major news, updates, and technical advancements from the past month.
COTI Team Presents its CBDC Use Case to the Bank of Israel
COTI had the opportunity to pitch its CBDC-powered decentralized marketplace for RWA’s to the Bank of Israel in the finale of the Digital Shekel Challenge this month. COTI’s solution facilitated cross-border transactions using the digital shekel, reducing fees and the risk of fraud. You can watch the demo video here.
COTI advocated for privacy-by-design by deploying advanced garbled circuits encryption for secure, efficient and compliant transactions. We were thrilled to feature as the only blockchain finalist and to share the stage with top tier companies like PayPal and Fireblocks. The COTI team will now turn their attention to solving further privacy concerns for CBDCs. Read the full story here.
Testnet Activity Up 500%
We are pleased to report that our October testnet metrics showed a 500% increase in activity, affirming developers’ commitment to building secure, privacy-first applications on COTI. Smart contract deployments also rose, with a 15% increase in devnet activity and a 20% increase in testnet activity, indicating growing confidence in COTI’s infrastructure.
Python SDK downloads have surged by 159%, showing multi-language interest and enhanced SDK capabilities, including encrypted string operations and the new coti-ethers package for browsers should help propel this growth further. These metrics validate COTI’s network scalability and provide valuable insights as we prepare for mainnet. Read the full story here.
COTI Goes Big at Devcon
This month, we announced our involvement in Devcon on 12th — 15th Nov.We are going big this year as sponsors and hosts of the Shielding Summit in collaboration with Privacy Guardians and the DECC Alliance. Join us there. COTI’s CEO, Shahaf Bar-Geffen, will also be speaking at the Hack Seasons Conference on a panel titled, “Driving Mass Adoption with Enhanced Privacy”. Sign up to attend here.
COTI SDK Upgrades
This month, we announced COTI’s upgrade to coti-ethers 1.0.1b, which enables encrypted strings for securely handling sensitive data such as passwords and personal information. Further updates to our SDK allow developers to perform private computations and comparisons directly within familiar tools, making privacy features easier to adopt in Web3 applications. This update supports multi-platform deployment, streamlines onboarding, and minimizes workflow changes, reducing barriers to implementing data privacy in decentralized applications.
Key Points:
New coti-ethers package (1.0.1b) brings seamless privacy features to browser interactions
New SDK upgrade enables secure handling of encrypted strings for sensitive data.
Developers can perform private computations, comparisons, and search operations.
The update maintains compatibility, simplifying privacy feature adoption in Web3.
You can read more about the upgrade here or listen back to the latest Developer Session for a technical deep dive (coming soon to Youtube).

COTI in the Spotlight
It’s been another strong month for COTI in the crypto press. Several publications have highlighted COTI’s participation in the Digital Shekel Challenge for the Bank of Israel, with mentions from Binance, Blockster, and The Crypto Daily, among others. The crypto press also covered the news of our Gitcoin grants, with features in Binance, The Blockchain Reporter, and more.
Earlier in the month, The Street covered COTI in an article on scalability and Layer 2 solutions, noting that ‘COTI’s technology aims to deliver secure, affordable MPC…the new EVM-compatible Layer 2 network will potentially make affordable privacy solutions for Web3 a fact'.
In addition Tech Briefly highlighted COTI’s capabilities to “…enable DEX platforms to keep their transaction history private and encrypt transaction data to minimize slippage and losses from MEV attacks”. In other news, our partners PriveX, the first privacy focused, intent-based DEX, shared more about their plans to integrate COTI this month. You can read the update here.

Exploring a Decentralized Web
Our guest writer, Guy B., has launched a three-part series exploring the concept of the decentralized web and the role that privacy may play. The series covers the evolution of the internet, then explores a future vision for the web, discussing a potential path back to decentralization through blockchain and on-chain privacy. It’s well worth a read:
Part 1: The Story So Far
Part 2: The Crossroads
Part 3: Navigating the Path to Privacy
