Pi Network is launching PiFest, a special event starting October 29, to promote real-world use of its cryptocurrency. The event allows merchants to register their stores on a “Map of Pi,” helping users find them via the PiOS app. The goal is to boost Pi’s utility in local commerce.

This year’s event follows last December’s PiFest, which aimed to encourage the same.

**Recent Updates**

Pi Network, a mobile-friendly cryptocurrency project, has been preparing for its mainnet launch. With over 13 million users already KYC-verified, the team extended the verification deadline to November 30 due to rising KYC demand. They’re also encouraging people to join as validators, rewarding them in Pi tokens for accurate work.

On October 19, Pi Network released Pi Node Version 0.5.0, a major update that helps nodes simulate mainnet conditions. This new Testnet2 blockchain will replace the original Testnet soon, though the latter remains active for now.
