The Pi Network has rolled out a significant update by introducing Testnet 2, a new layer designed to streamline the transition to the much-anticipated Open Network. This development aims to enhance testing capabilities and prepare node operators to shift to the Mainnet.
Testnet 2 allows nodes to seamlessly switch between Testnet and Mainnet, offering a flexible environment for operators to test the network’s performance and compatibility with upcoming features. Initially, a selected group of nodes will be assigned to Testnet 2 to ensure optimized functionality and gather feedback.
One of the key improvements in this new version is the reduction of transaction fees, now set at just 0.0000099 Pi. This lowered fee structure gives the Pi community a clearer perspective on the potential value of the Pi cryptocurrency as it moves closer to full decentralization. The block creation for Testnet 2 started today at 12:05 AM.
As Pi Network takes another step forward, Testnet 2 is expected to be crucial in ensuring a smooth and secure transition for all participants before the official Mainnet launch.
