And what is price denominated in? Fiat. The core of economics doesn’t question the underlying thing: fiat. That’s why it’s broken.”

.@weremeow talks to Youtube co-founder @stevechen about UGC and UGM: “You’re obviously one of the pioneers of this thing called UGC, right? User Generated Content. And then what we are seeing now in this space is what I call UGM — User Generated Money. In UGC, the value is created from the users. And then in Web3 or crypto, the value is generated from the users too. In UGC, we move from an era of the big studios—the big studios create the content, they monetize the content, and they get the value from the content. But what you did is that you democratized the process. You allowed users to create the content, market the content too, and also get the value from the content. For example, if you’re Netflix, you have to make the content, market it, and run advertising globally. You go anywhere across the world—Japan, Tokyo, Europe—you see Netflix advertisements everywhere. But in this new era, the users are the ones that market their own content. And the same thing is happening in the crypto world. The users are generating the money, marketing the money, and getting the value of the money. There are a lot of nuances to this but generally speaking, it’s fascinating because we are really at the nexus of UGC and UGM.”
