**Canto Blockchain Faces 33-Hour Outage, Plans Upgrade**

Canto, a Cosmos-based layer-1 blockchain, has been down for over 33 hours due to a consensus issue. Launched in August 2022, Canto is designed for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

The last transaction was recorded at 2:29 am on Aug. 11. The team confirmed the issue on social media, announcing an upgrade scheduled for 12:00 pm UTC on Aug. 12 to resolve the problem.

Despite the outage, Canto assures users that all funds are safe and normal functions will resume post-upgrade. Activity on the blockchain had surged earlier this year but has since declined.
